ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY PROFESSIONALS SHARE BEST PRACTICES AT ENVISION 2005 Enviance conference draws more than 70 compliance leaders to hear keynote on EPA technology innovations and participate in sessions led by experts from ChevronTexaco, Pfizer, and others CARLSBAD, CA - April 27, 2005 - More than 70 compliance professionals from companies including ChevronTexaco, Pfizer, and Sempra Energy participated in the second annual Enviance user conference, Envision 2005. Enviance is the leading provider of Internet-based, on demand systems for the management of environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance activities. Enviance customers shared best practices at workshops and training sessions during the conference April 18 through 20, 2005 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in California. Entitled "Sharing the Road to Success," the three-day event was hosted by the Envision Advisory Council in cooperation with Enviance and featured a welcome address by Tom Wilson, Director, Environmental Services of Pacific Gas & Electric, and President of the Envision Advisory Council. In his comments to the conference attendees, Wilson set the stage for the conference by emphasizing the importance of exchanging best practices as a route to confidently assuring compliance success. The April 19 keynote by Patrick Garvey, Co-staff Director of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), "EPA Technology Innovations," provided an overview of EPA plans and vision for improving the ways that environmental data is reported, managed, and accessed. Asking the question, "how should the regulated community position themselves with regard to technology, data access, and eGovernment services," Garvey detailed some of the technology that is being leveraged today at the EPA including the EnviroFacts and Enforcement and Compliance History Online (ECHO) web sites. Looking ahead, Garvey spoke about portals customized for industry and public use, analytical tools for trends and analysis, and electronic signature capabilities as some of the technologies envisioned for the future at the EPA. "Now and in the future, government reporting and systems must have the flexibility to take advantage of commercial marketplace solutions," said Garvey. Other presentations at Envision 2005 included:
Envision 2005 also gave customers the opportunity to provide input to Enviance and to learn about new product capabilities-including mobile access via handheld devices, advanced calculations, and materials management-developed from previous customer feedback. In his address to the gathering of customers, Lawrence Goldenhersh, President and CEO of Enviance, emphasized the collaborative value of Enviance.
