ENVIANCE MAKES HISTORY IN CA WITH THE FIRST ONLINE FILING OF ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE FORMS San Diego, CA… Enviance, the nation's premier online environmental commerce and compliance web site, announced today that it made history in California by achieving the first online filing of an environmental form with a California regulatory agency. The Enviance web site, which was launched in June 2000, offers direct, online form completion and filing services to its client base of large, medium and small businesses. Enviance business customers, who registered online to become members of the Enviance site, used the site to complete and file the Annual Storm Water Discharge Report by the July 1, 2000 deadline. Each filer received an electronic notice from the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) confirming timely receipt and acceptance of the electronically filed form, as well as an electronic copy of the form that was filed. The Enviance customers taking advantage of this opportunity to be the first online environmental form filers include large and small business across a broad range of industries. These customers include: UAE Energy Operations Corp., a nationwide leader in independent energy development; The Sherwin-Williams Company, a leader in coatings technology, manufacture and distribution; and Garden Grow, a potting soils and garden product manufacturer. The Enviance web site, www.enviance.com, offers California businesses the ability to access, complete, file and store required environmental reports online. Through the Enviance web site, businesses can streamline environmental reporting activities through paperless, direct filings with environmental agencies. The Annual Storm Water Discharge Report required by the SWRCB is the first of hundreds of environmental reports that businesses will be able to file directly with federal, state and regional agencies in the months ahead. Enviance is the only Internet company to offer businesses the ability to use the Internet to directly file required environmental forms with public agencies. "We are very excited about the Enviance report filing system. We anticipate saving a considerable amount of time in our environmental reporting efforts," said Joe Greco, Vice President with UAE Energy Operations Corp. "The completion of the Annual Storm Water Discharge Report on the Enviance web site was fast and easy. This system provides the flexibility necessary to enhance our data management, saving us both dollars and time by streamlining the many complex environmental reports required of our operations."
"The State of California is always open to implementing innovative and cooperative ways to streamline the way in which government interacts with private businesses," said Winston Hickox, Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CAL/EPA). "With these first online form filings, Enviance has ushered in the era of web-enabled streamlining of the compliance process. We are excited about the potential for Enviance and its competitors to offer businesses an expanding number of web-enabled forms and other compliance streamlining tools at no cost to the taxpayer." In addition to enabling the online filing of the Annual Storm Water Discharge Report with SWRCB, the Enviance site will soon be expanded to include access to more than 100 required environmental forms. Businesses can register with Enviance to create a secure, company-specific profile and workspace within the Enviance site. Through this workspace, the business can locate and obtain access to the environmental reports and forms required for their business, and can utilize multi-session, multi-user functionality for report completion. Members of the Enviance community receive timely reminders of upcoming deadlines which have attached to them an electronic copy of the form to be filed, already partially completed with information drawn from the customer's secure database within the Enviance system.
In commenting on the importance of the Enviance form system, Matthew McCullough, a co-founder of Enviance and a practicing environmental consultant with 16 years of environmental consulting experience stated, "The Enviance system will allow for tremendous time savings, by industry and their consultants, in the maintenance of environmental compliance. The reminder system and the autocomplete features of the Enviance forms systems will save clients thousands of dollars. In addition, there are quality assurance features built into the forms process that ensure that simple mistakes such as misstatement of the unit of measure and misstatement of dates will be caught during the completion process, ensuring a higher quality product."
According to Lawrence Goldenhersh, CEO of Enviance, the web site has been in the planning and development stages for the last year. Enviance has a team of professionals with experience in environmental compliance, health and safety, and systems engineering, who have assembled a nationwide database of environmental regulations and required forms. Initially the Enviance team focused on the California environmental marketplace, which represents $28 billion annually in spending for environmental compliance. The Enviance online toolbox will allow a business to search for required environmental forms through a variety of search methods, including environmental media, chemical, process and reporting agency. Once the forms are identified, they will be accessed through an online library. Many of the forms will be eligible for online preparation and storage as well as direct filing through the Enviance online form-filing center. Enviance has plans to expand their online form filing capacities to other regional, state and national agencies in the months ahead. Enviance services are available to both large and small businesses through easy online registration that establishes an individual account profile and secure workspace where a company can manage its entire environmental reporting system in one location. With the Enviance family of services, even a small business owner can easily identify environmental regulations and cost- effectively meet all reporting requirements through a simple web-based toolkit.
Large businesses, from utilities to chemical companies, can also make use of the sophisticated Enviance database and form filing system to centralize and streamline their existing environmental compliance operations. Enviance has incorporated the most advanced security systems into the site architecture to ensure that all client data is secure from intrusion or tampering. Enviance has developed a fee for service approach that will make filing and other services affordable to small business and cost-effective for large companies as well.
"The online form completion and filing capability is the first of the Enviance series of Internet-powered tools that will allow businesses, large and small, to streamline their environmental compliance tasks and reduce the overall cost of compliance," remarked Larry Goldenhersh, founder and CEO of Enviance. "We are proud to have been the first company to take California environmental form filing into the Internet age. Our deep domain expertise in the environmental arena, coupled with our demonstrated technological capabilities, position us well to dominate the environmental portal space." Enviance is a privately held corporation founded in October 1999. Goldenhersh was a partner in a major California firm, where his practice areas included environmental litigation and intellectual property litigation. The company is headquartered in San Diego, CA. ### |
