MONTENAY POWER BOOSTS ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE WITH ENVIANCE

On demand system promoting enterprise-wide best practices, improving performance and reducing corporate risk

NEW YORK, NY and CARLSBAD, CA - July 27, 2004 - Montenay Power Corporation, a leading North American waste-to-energy subsidiary of Veolia Environment (NYSE: VE), and Enviance, Inc., the leading provider of on demand, Internet-based solutions that streamline the management of complex environmental, health and safety (EH&S) compliance activities, today announced that the Enviance System has been deployed by Montenay to streamline and support its environmental management policies and ongoing commitment to quality.

Montenay commenced implementation of the Enviance System enterprise-wide at its 10 facilities and corporate office for comprehensive environmental management, including air and water quality compliance. Over the next year, the company anticipates improving the initial components implemented and rolling out other Enviance capabilities, including safety and health, at all of its locations. The aim of the Enviance deployment is to replace disparate database systems and consolidate all environmental compliance management activities into one centralized system. The System will streamline data capture, enhance analytical ability and reporting, and provide business process management functionality that will allow Montenay to enhance the quality of its compliance activities and strengthen its commitment to environmentally sustainable business practices, including activities related to its ISO 14001 certification.

"Without the need for significant IT involvement, Enviance's Internet-based system will enable Montenay to easily deploy one common solution across our entire organization - 10 facilities coast-to-coast, as well as in our corporate office - ensuring a high level of consistency and integration," said Chris Neu, Vice President, Operations Support. "By utilizing the Enviance System, I expect that Montenay will decrease the time and cost required to demonstrate ongoing compliance with complex federal, state and local regulations, substantially reduce the risk of non compliance, and ensure consistent reporting within the company."

"There is a massive volume of data related to demonstrating ongoing regulatory compliance. Leaders like Montenay know that maintaining sound and sustainable environmental practices requires a unique blend of information management, process automation and collaboration tools," said Lawrence Goldenhersh, President and CEO, Enviance. "With our Internet-based, on demand system, Enviance is providing Industry with exactly the blend of functionality required and has packaged this functionality into a scalable solution that is quickly and cost-effectively configured to meet the precise regulatory challenges of each of our customers."
