ENVIANCE LAUNCHES LATEST VERSION OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON MICROSOFT .NET PLATFORM

Version 2.0 Offers Added Functionality and New User Interface

BOSTON, EnviroExpo, May 7, 2002 - Enviance, a San Diego-based environmental technology company, today announced the launch of its Internet-based Environmental Management System built on the Microsoft .NET platform.

Using the Microsoft .NET Framework means that system upgrades can happen faster and more often. By minimizing development time, the Microsoft .NET Framework frees software developers to work on incorporating new System features. The new framework is easily scalable so it will grow with the company and the needs of clients.

The implementation of the Microsoft .NET Framework also means that the Web aspect of the Enviance EMS, one of many distinguishing features of Enviance's offerings, will have never seen before functionality. Previous browser limitations will be eliminated as version 2.0 automatically adapts to the target browser's capabilities eliminating the need for browser configuration.

"The change-over to the .NET Framework has allowed Enviance to realize exponential growth in product development speed. Our programmers will now be able to dedicate a greater amount of time to incorporating upgrade requests from clients," said Sergey Blyashov, Enviance's chief technology officer.

"Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is pleased that Enviance's Environmental Management System 2.0 increases developer productivity and creates a more user-friendly interface with .NET technology," said Mike Culver, group program manager for the Developer Platform and Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp. "The System will be a valuable solution for the environmental management industry."

Along with the implementation of Microsoft .NET has come an updated data-storage infrastructure. Enviance has relocated its servers to a larger facility in order to accommodate more than double the amount of hardware dedicated solely to hosting the Enviance Environmental Management System.

Version 2.0 brings with it a new user interface. End-users will immediately notice the new look and feel to the EMS once they logon to the System. User-friendly design features include dynamically driven menus based on user access to the system. The system also utilizes an extensive color palette creating a striking visual aesthetic.

"The end-user will experience a faster, more intuitive Environmental Management System that incorporates upgrades at a staggering rate," said Lawrence Goldenhersh, president and chief executive officer of Enviance. "Version 2.0 has new features that allow the System to accommodate the most demanding environmental reporting requirements."

Along with the implementation of a new framework, version 2.0 incorporates several new system features that expand its environmental reporting and data management capabilities. Environmental professionals will now be able track hourly emissions data and perform data transfers into the Enviance EMS from Excel spreadsheets. An expanded calculation engine saves time and improves reporting accuracy while enabling rolling and fixed calculations.

A privately held corporation founded in October 1999, Enviance empowers industry to cost-effectively manage environmental compliance responsibilities through Internet and intranet-based applications. Enviance initially made history by achieving the first online filing of an environmental form with a California regulatory agency in 2000.
