ENVIANCE RELEASES WEB SERVICES INTEGRATION AND DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM

Web services-based library and Software Developers’ Kit designed to facilitate the integration of compliance data across information systems and support third-party application development; Chevron North America achieving significant time savings

CARLSBAD, CA - Enviance, the leading provider of Internet-based, on demand systems for the management of environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance activities, today announced the release of a comprehensive Software Developers’ Kit (SDK) to accelerate integration of the Enviance System with legacy enterprise applications.

The SDK consists of a full set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and the Enviance Integration Framework Library, known as EIFL. The APIs, which sit inside the Enviance System, allow companies to connect their legacy systems directly to the Enviance System. EIFL resides on the customer site and provides a ready-to-use message/data handling framework. EIFL functionality includes: pluggable architecture and interfaces to simplify integration projects; message-based processing for flexibility; message retrieval/receipt from heterogeneous data sources (file system, databases, Web services); and error logging and notification capabilities. Both the APIs and EIFL were created using Microsoft® .NET and SOAP Web services.

The Enviance SDK makes it possible for customers to cost-effectively leverage their existing investments in IT and software solutions by connecting them to Enviance, extending their centralized compliance system. Systems ideal for this kind of integration include Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), environmental monitoring (such as CEMS, COMS), process control, asset management, document management, task management, and human resources. In addition, the SDK can be used to push data from the Enviance System to existing business intelligence and analytics software, performance dashboards or company extranets and portals.

The Enviance APIs and EIFL provide customers with the flexibility to decide how best to achieve the connection of their legacy systems with the Enviance System. This integration can be accomplished by internal IT staff, third party integration providers, engineering/consulting partners or members of the Enviance technology team. Enviance offers a “ready-to-run” EIFL package, which, with slight configuration changes, enables fast, cost-effective integration.

In the San Joaquin Valley, Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company has integrated its Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition Programmable Logic Controllers (SCADA PLCs) with the Enviance System.

“Before the Enviance integration, we were only able to collect compliance support data from hundreds of PLCs in the San Joaquin Valley approximately once a month. Now that we’ve tied together this equipment, we pull this information daily,” said Bill Stone, Compliance Specialist, Chevron North America Exploration and Production Co, San Joaquin Valley Strategic Business Unit. “The time savings alone made this integration effort worthwhile.”

“Compliance data resides across the enterprise in a variety of legacy systems. Unless these systems are connected to a centralized system, data must be manually gathered and managed, making it difficult to realize the full cost savings and risk reduction benefits of a compliance system,” said Lawrence Goldenhersh, President and CEO of Enviance. “By enabling data from legacy systems to flow seamlessly to the Enviance System, customers can leverage investments in their current technologies and automate and centralize their compliance processes.”

Both the Enviance APIs and EIFL are available immediately.
