ENVIANCE SYSTEM ALLOWS DUPONT TO STREAMLINE TOXIC RELEASE REPORTING In use since Reporting Year 2000, Enviance's on demand management and reporting system has improved time-to-report and provided real-time TRI visibility, saving thousands of person-hours CARLSBAD, CA - October 12, 2004 - Enviance Inc., the leading provider of Internet-based on demand compliance management services for environmental, health and safety, announced that its compliance technology is helping DuPont (NYSE: DD) streamline and improve the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reporting process. More than 24,000 industrial and federal facilities file over 80,000 TRI Reports annually in the United States. These reports include information on toxic chemical releases and other waste management activities. They are compiled by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and made publicly available through its TRI database, established under the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 (EPCRA) and expanded by the Pollution Prevention Act of 1990. It is estimated that industry spends approximately 8,000,000 hours each year in preparing TRI Reports. Enviance co-developed the TRI reporting management application with Dupont. The Enviance TRI reporting application provides easy, online access to technology that automates and streamlines the processing, calculation and reporting of emissions data required to complete the Form R, the foundation of the EPA-mandated TRI Report. Utilizing web services, Enviance is able to integrate with legacy systems, simplifying the report preparation process through auto-population of data into the Form R and the electronic filing with the EPA. Enviance's on demand service enables organizations to quickly centralize all of their data in one place, and to easily analyze data at the facility, business unit or enterprise level. "The Enviance TRI reporting application has allowed DuPont to drastically reduce the time it takes to enter and process data necessary to complete the Form R reports for the TRI," said Aldo Morell, Director of Safety, Health and Environment, DuPont. "The system provides DuPont with easy access to up-to-the-minute information throughout the year, not just at year end." According to Morell, "With its combination of extensive domain expertise in the environmental compliance arena and demonstrated technology expertise, Enviance has produced what we believe is the industry's leading TRI reporting technology. Our use of the system has saved us thousands of hours of time." "Working together, DuPont and Enviance have leveraged the power of the Internet and several hundred years of collective environmental compliance experience to produce an on demand service that can dramatically reduce the cost associated with the annual filing of the TRI reports," said Lawrence Goldenhersh, President and CEO, Enviance. "The thousands of hours saved by DuPont translate directly into bottom line savings. With the Enviance on demand, Web-based system, these savings can be achieved for a fraction of the cost required to implement and support comparable systems behind a company's firewall."
