WEC Energy Group announces it took home the 2019 International EHS Innovation Award at this year’s Verdantix EHS Summit Americas for its efforts in implementing advanced, industry-leading environmental health and safety technology.
Independent research firm Verdantix selected WEC Energy Group based on its proven commitment to expand its environmental management information system to cover more programs as well as its growing portfolio of companies. By leveraging Enviance, leading cloud-based environmental, health, and safety software, WEC Energy Group demonstrates environmental leadership by successfully executing, adopting, and realizing the value of an integrated environmental compliance and performance system.
“As an energy company that values providing our affordable services safely and reliably while adhering to critical environmentally sustainable practices, this award is especially meaningful to us,” said Liz Suteck-Mullane, vice president of environmental for WEC Energy Group. “With our powerful technology solution, we’ve worked to continually improve our environmental performance. By implementing Enviance’s cloud-based software, we can further enhance these efforts through improved compliance visibility, better data collection consistency, and more efficient reporting.”
Using Enviance’s cloud-based SaaS EHS software helped WEC Energy Group manage environmental compliance over the past five years. In that time, the use of Enviance has expanded following a multibillion dollar acquisition as well as generation reshaping plans, which brought new facilities. Enviance’s flexible SaaS model simplified incorporating these additional facilities into WEC Energy Group’s environmental management information system by allowing the roll out of standardized environmental processes to hundreds of employees across locations.
“Enviance is pleased to partner with WEC Energy Group to offer software to better manage comprehensive environmental programs for air, water, and waste,” said Amanda Smith, chief solution officer at Enviance. “With the ability to monitor thousands of compliance requirements in a single system, WEC Energy Group can streamline its cross-company reporting capability, including overdue task reports, overdue inspection reports, and inventory reports.”
Along with WEC Energy Group, 10 other companies received the 2019 International EHS Innovation Award. An independent jury of corporate EHS managers selected the award winners based on their commitment to leveraging advanced EHS technology solutions.
